TOURIST ROUTES CYCLE
- GREEN ROUTES
MAP
Through these
lands three old rail layouts that allow to know important and
interesting places of our geography reflect. With this document
it is sought to give to know the existence of these routes. But
for lack of signaling and adaptation of most of the tracts, the
itineraries can get complicated in many cases. For that reason
we recommend earnestly to consult the materials and resources
expressed hereinafter, and to prepare the routes conscientiously
before the exit. |

Ruta 1. La Ruta del Serpis
This road
united the populations from Alcoy and Gandia, connecting this
way the mountain alicantina with the coast. Here the journey is
shown with origin in Cocentaina, and I dedicate in Villalonga
(32 km). The maximum height is Cocentaina (434 m) and the
minimum Villalonga (92 m). Some tracts are asphalted, and others
are of loose earth. The road gets lost in some tracts, although
he/she recovers with easiness. The route can extend toward
Gandia (12 more km), and to connect here with Olive for the 'Via
of the Safor' (8 more km). It is needed to take a lantern for
the step of the tunnels.
From the urban center of Cocentaina and in north address, it is
necessary to arrive, well through the streets of the medieval
neighborhood, or for the highway, to the deviation round to
l'Alcudia, in the same national highway. Of this, it leaves a
marked road as of l'Arpella that is already the old one via, and
that it arrives right to the old station of Wall. Once here the
route continues in the same address reflecting for the Avenue of
Gandia that first it crosses the Av. Of Valencia and it puts an
end later in the intersection to Almodóvar's street Duchess.
Here the right layout intersects for lack of the bridge. The
road is the visible one to the left that lowers, the Branco it
crosses, and it ascends until arriving to an electric
transformer that we will surround taking the one in route to 90º
to the right. The route no longer has loss, and soon we will see
that this signalled as 'Camí of the Road.' After Gaianes,
Beniarrés and L'Orxa, you arrives to it leaves it more
attractive of the journey that reflects for the 'Raco of the Duc'
among tunnels and magnificent landscapes watered by the waters
of the Serpis.

Ruta 2. La Vía del ‘Xitxarra’
This is the
name with which the railroad was known that reflected between
Wall of Alcoy and Key, already in Murcia. The journey of
approximately 83 km. It is in their biggest earth part and loose
stones, although in some tracts the firm one this more zipped,
and even asphalted. The maximum altitude is in Banyeres with 816
m and the minimum Wall to 410 m. It is only considered Via Green,
the tract between Villena and the Virtues (7 km).
From Cocentaina, the same as in the route of the Serpis, we must
arrive at the station of Wall. In the tree-lined round that
there is before this building, we will turn to the left, address
south-west to go for the avenue of the polygon, called Fco.
Vitoria Laporta toward the N-340 that we will save for the
crossing regulated by traffic light.
Here once in the other side of the highway, a road signalled is
born as 'Them Forensic' that reflects right with chalets to both
sides. A slight badén in the asphalted road marks us the
crossing with the old one via of the train that is identified
easily. We will take it in north address. Another option to find
the road is to continue in north address for the highway N-340
until arriving to the following round where he/she is San
Antonio's hermitage and two gas stations. In this crossing we
follow address Agres, and a second round after an inferior step,
it arrives to the cumin 'Racó Rock' that also crosses the old
one via. The principle of the journey coincides with the path
PRV-277.
Already in the estribaciones of the 'Sierra Mariola', we will go
to Agres and wing old station of the Xitxarra. The following
town is Alfafara, and later in a quite right layout you arrives
to Bocairente, Banyeres and Beneixama. The route continues until
Villena, and he/she goes directly to Yecla. |

Ruta 3. La ruta del Maigmó.
This route was planned for a railroad that
united the port of Alicante with Alcoy. The train never
bequeathed to circulate, but of the project it was prepared a
rail platform with numerous bridges and tunnels that saved the
rural orography of the area. The route that intends part of
Cocentaina and it arrives until Agost. He/she has about 70 kms
of longitude, and the maximum bench mark of altitude they are
almost those 900 m of the Hill of Malany. The journey is only
considered Via Green among Alcoy the channel (12 km) and Port of
the Maigmó until Agost (22 km) the rest of the journey that he/she
poses for Ibi, Castile and Tibi coincides with the recently open
railcar of the interior. Advisable to take lantern.
Leaving of Cocentaina, we go to Alcoy for the N-340 in south
address, since the layout of the train 'dels Anglesos' that
united both populations it has been cut by the variant of
Cocentaina. Once we arrive to the entrance of Alcoy, we will
follow the indications to the traffic toward Banyeres or
Neighborhood of Batoy. Before leaving the urban nucleus we will
find to left wing this neighborhood. There near the park, in
wing Modúver remains silent, the Green Road begins until the one
it Jumps. After this first tract, the route is hindered because
he/she joins with the railcar, or he/she even gets lost in
occasions, until you arrives to the port of the Maigmó, where
he/she recovers the Road Green that takes us without any
difficulty until the halt of Agost.
